Empowering Mental Health Professionals: Peri & Menopause Training at Mind
At Dandelion Coaching, we understand the crucial link between hormonal health and psychological well-being. Delivering menopause awareness training to the entire service team at Carlisle Eden Mind, the mental health charity, was particularly meaningful to me. With over 16 years of experience working with this incredible team, this project was close to my heart.
A Tailored Approach for a Vital Team
CE Mind provides essential mental health support across various roles, from office administrators to crisis workers, ensuring that individuals in distress receive the care they need. Recognising the profound impact of hormonal fluctuations on mental health, we worked with the team to deepen their understanding of menopause and its psychological effects. By training staff at CE Mind, including those from The Lighthouse team and the You In Mind service, we aimed to equip them with the knowledge to support individuals facing mental health crises more holistically.
Understanding Hormonal Health in Mental Well-being
An enhanced awareness of hormonal health is now allowing CE Mind to integrate menopause-related considerations into their assessment and care plans. This insight enables them to better address psychological challenges, including heightened anxiety, depression, and even suicide risks areas that can be significantly influenced by perimenopause and menopause. Mental health professionals at Mind have already begun embedding this knowledge into their everyday practice, ensuring that support is tailored to the specific needs of women navigating these life transitions.

As the CEO of CE Mind stated, "This training has been an eye-opener for our team. Understanding the intersection of hormonal health and mental well-being has given us the tools to provide more nuanced and effective support. Lynsey's expertise and engaging approach made the sessions both insightful and deeply impactful."
Strengthening Support Services
The Lighthouse team, which provides immediate crisis support, and the You In Mind team, which works collaboratively to build resilience and coping strategies, both benefited from this training. They gained a deeper understanding of the unique mental health challenges women face, including the stigma and barriers associated with perimenopause. Through reflective discussions, we explored strategies for individual support plans that acknowledge the increased risk factors for women, such as suicide, low mood, anxiety, and depression.
One participant shared, "I never realised how much menopause could impact mental health. This training has completely changed the way I approach conversations with clients, and I now feel much more equipped to offer support."
A Commitment to Better Mental Health Support
By upskilling CE Mind’s staff in this specialist area, we are ensuring that menopause-related psychological health concerns are no longer overlooked. This training is about more than just awareness—it’s about embedding meaningful change into mental health services, resulting in a more informed and supportive approach for those who need it most.
As the CEO of CE Mind shared in their testimonial, "Lynsey’s training has provided our team with invaluable insights that will shape our approach to supporting clients moving forward. This knowledge has already started making a difference in how we assess and support individuals experiencing mental health challenges linked to hormonal changes."
We are proud to have partnered with Mind on this journey and look forward to continuing to support organizations dedicated to improving mental health outcomes for all.
